Consolidation, automation and intelligence beyond our ability to understand and control

Quick Quote – Source – Jeff Hilles

A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – We are headed toward a train wreck once AI, Deep Fake, GPT-4, interconnected automation, independent replication, and robotics converge over the next 10 years.

Today AI is in the headlines. Months ago it was ChatGPT and other writing programs. A year ago it was Deep Fake (synthetic media) and before that it was robotic dogs in the news. Tomorrow’s headlines will be Elon Musk’s Nuralink company which just received FDA approval for human trials to insert electronic chips into our brains.

What many in the periphery of these technologies (and some within their inner circle) miss is the impact this convergence will have on humanity, and, the unabated speed that merger is occurring. Unlike all past technological achievements, due to AI, we are creating intelligence far beyond our ability to control or manage it. Once interconnected with the other achievements referenced above, especially robotics and automation, (providing a physical presence to AI’s superior processing skills), we will be facing a world where mankind, is no longer the highest form of “life”.

This is another nail in the coffin of God’s oversight of His creation vs our desire to take control of our own destiny. The irony in this case is that AI and its partners, for all their obvious benefits, will ultimately reduce rather than extend our independence and self-determination. The Bible ends with the passage…

Rev. 22:20-21 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.
