“Let the bountiful table set before them become a snare and their prosperity become a trap.” (Psalm 69:22)
All good things come from God as we know from James 1:17, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.”
Let us not be deceived by turning from the One who gave us the blessings we have. They are a gift from God and should be respected as such. When pride creeps in and we begin to fool ourselves into thinking, “I earned this, I worked hard for this” we open the door for destruction because God gives and He takes away.
The real problem is not the gifts, it is in forgetting that they are gifts and in fact do not truly belong to us but to the Father who uses them according to His good and pleasing will. Blessings are good but they can be a trap for many who forget their love, their kindness towards others, their humility, their reverence for God Almighty.
The blessings we receive are trusted in the arms of those who have strengthened their character to ward off the enemy of pride and deceit, for those who know who they are in Christ and are not ashamed of it. Stay diligent, my friends, or else the enemy will use what God has given you to corrupt.
The Lord is transferring great wealth from those who do evil to those who do good. He is aware of the cries of His people and has not turned His back on them. He has set a trap for the wicked who think their riches are safe but soon, not long now, they will be snatched away in the darkness, and delivered to those who have proved themselves worthy.
Sow good seeds for Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God and you will reap a good harvest, but sow evil seeds and you will reap an evil, desolate harvest. The Lord has spoken!
Peace be unto you,
Donald
