Daily Headlines on contemporary issues that impact a Biblical Christian worldview.

“Arkansas book event interrupted by drag queens in ‘disturbing’ outfits as Kirk Cameron and guests speak”…

“A group of drag queens and activists dressed in black and white showed up on Friday at the Fayetteville Public Library in Fayetteville, Arkansas, to protest actor-writer Kirk Cameron’s story time event for families and children, according to book publisher Brave Books, whose staff were present at the reading.

The drag queens blocked the views of some families and children and distracted others from the book reading and remarks from the stage, said Brave Books.”

“Pastors’ satisfaction, certainty of call in rapid decline, Barna finds”…

“Protestant pastors are less satisfied with their jobs and church assignments and less confident in their spiritual callings, Barna research said in its latest study on pastoral resilience.

Only 52 percent of pastors are “very satisfied” with their jobs, only 50 percent are just as confident of their calling as they were when they began, and only 38 percent are very satisfied with their current church assignment, Barna said.”

“Alarming New Research Shows How Fast TikTok’s Algorithm Will Send Your 13-Year-Old To Videos Encouraging Suicide”…

“When discussing TikTok in 2023, there are two things to remember. President Donald Trump called to have it banned in 2020, calling it spyware for the Communist Chinese, and was mocked for doing so. Three years later now that there is bipartisan agreement, President Joe Biden is dragging his feet because his base loves the appand he might not win reelection without it. “

“Why is the Greg Laurie movie “Jesus Revolution” so popular?”…

Jesus Revolution, a movie about a spiritual awakening in California in the early 1970s, is nearing $46 million in box office ticket sales as of this morning. In so doing, it has matched or surpassed The Fabelmans, The Banshees of Inisherin, Tár, Women Talking, and Triangle of Sadness, combined. (For more on Jesus Revolution, see our review, as well as our interview with director Jon Erwin in The Denison Forum Podcast.)

Why is the movie striking such a chord with so many millions of people?

Rev. Greg Laurie, a California pastor and central figure in the movie, writes: “We were created to worship. And when you get down to it, every person on Earth does worship. We don’t all worship the God of heaven, but we all worship someone or something. It may be a sports figure, an entertainer, or someone else. It may be a possession. But everyone bows at some kind of altar.”

“Google opens early access to Bard, its AI chatbot”…

“Google just announced that the company is releasing its ChatGPT competitor Bard. But chances are you won’t be able to access the product right away as the company is starting with a limited public rollout.

Users in the U.K. and the U.S. can head over to bard.google.com and join a waitlist. The company calls Bard an “early experiment that lets you collaborate with generative AI.”

Like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Bing chatbot, Bard is a chatbot based on a large language model. You can interact with Bard to ask questions and refine the answer with follow-up queries.”

“Chinese president promises Putin: ‘Change is coming that hasn’t happened in 100 years’”…

“During a three-day visit this week to Moscow, Chinese President Xi Jinping told Russian President Vladimir Putin that “change is coming” to the global stage.

“Change is coming that hasn’t happened in 100 years. And we are driving this change together. Please take care, dear friend,” Xi said via his interpreter to Putin at the tail end of his visit on Wednesday.

According to CNN, the two are trying to build a new “multipolar world” that’s “not led by so-called Western values and rules.”

In other words, they want to create a world that isn’t dictated by the wishes of the West, particularly the “woke” wishes of the United States.”
