Daily Headlines on contemporary issues that impact a Biblical Christian worldview.
“With faith under fire today, Dr. James Spencer shares recipe for Christian resistance”…
“There’s a unique brand of Christian persecution taking place in Western countries such as the United States.
The same “spiritual forces” are also at work in other parts of the world, where Christians are literally dying for their faith. But in the “civilized” West, the persecution takes the guise of political, legal and cultural challenges.
Said Judge Phil Ginn, president of Southern Evangelical Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina, “You would almost have to be blind and deaf to not see the discrimination against conservative Christianity that is beginning to take shape in this country.”
“Disney announces huge LGBTQ+ conference just weeks after Ron DeSantis said he’s their “sheriff””…
“In what certainly seems like an intentional rebuke of anti-LGBTQ+ Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), The Walt Disney Company will host a massive LGBTQ+ rights conference in Central Florida this September.
The Out & Equal Workplace Summit touts itself as the largest LGBTQ+ conference in the world, uniting over 5,000 professionals from major companies and the U.S. government seeking to create inclusive workplaces.
“Utah parent demands school library remove Bible, cites Jesus’ words as ‘pornographic'”…
“With a list citing verses from Genesis to Revelation, a Utah parent is calling for the Word of God to be removed from a high school library for being “pornographic.”
A request filed on Dec. 11, 2022, with the Davis School District, located just north of Salt Lake City, calls the Bible “one of the most sex-ridden books around” and, therefore, violates Utah state code, The Salt Lake Tribune reported this week.
According to a copy of the request obtained by The Tribune, which has since been taken down, the parent — whose name, address and contact information were not disclosed for privacy concerns — specifically asked for the Bible to be removed at Davis High School in Kaysville, about 15 miles north of Salt Lake City.”
“NPR Issues Correction After Claiming There’s ‘Limited Scientific Evidence’ Men Have Physical Advantages In Sports”…
“National Public Radio (NPR) issued a correction to its Friday tweet claiming there is “limited scientific evidence” men have athletic advantages over women.
“Correction: An earlier tweet incorrectly stated there is limited scientific evidence of physical advantage. Existing research shows that higher levels of testosterone do impact athletic performance. But there’s limited research involving elite trans athletes in competition,” NPR said on Sunday. “Parents Over Politics or Politics Over Parents?: The Fight for the Future of Public Education in America”…
“Particularly when you’re looking at Congress, you have to ask some big questions when you see a political controversy. Is this over actual policy? Is there actually something here? Is this show politics? Because increasingly that’s the case and it becomes more likely to be the case when you have a quite near evenly divided House of Representatives or Senate, and in both cases we’re really there. And as you’re looking at this, you recognize sometimes the Republicans control the House and the Democrats in nominal control of the Senate, they’re going to bring forth legislation that doesn’t have any chance of passing both Houses, but they’re doing so in order to make a point. And then you need to ask the question, is it a legitimate point?”
“China, U.S. tensions increase over disputed islands”…
“Chinese officials on Friday threatened “serious consequences” over recent United States naval maneuvers around the disputed Paracel Islands. The U.S. Navy on Friday sailed a destroyer around the islands in the South China Sea for the second day in a row, a move China officials said threatened China’s sovereignty and security. Beijing said the Chinese military forced the American ship away from the islands yesterday, but the United States denied the claim and has maintained that the operations are in line with international law. “
“This Is Israel’s Most Dire Week Since The Yom Kippur War”…
“On Sunday night, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sacked Yoav Gallant, Israel’s defense minister. Twenty-four hours earlier, Gallant had defied his boss and urged the Knesset, the country’s parliament, to pause its efforts to degrade the judiciary. For the first time since 1973, the Jewish State roils amid existential crises.
“The State of Israel is in its greatest danger since the Yom Kippur War,” Naftali Bennett, a past prime minister, tweeted. “It doesn’t matter who is right and who is wrong… We are brothers.””
