“World Athletics to exclude transgender female athletes from women’s competitions”…
“World Athletics on Thursday announced its decision to exclude transgender female athletes who have been through male puberty from world rankings competitions.
The international governing body for track and field and other running-related athletic events said its decision would have no consequences for athletes right now because there are no transgender athletes competing internationally.
“World Athletics conducted a consultation period with various stakeholders in the first two months of this year, including Member Federations, the Global Athletics Coaches Academy and Athletes’ Commission, the IOC as well as representative transgender and human rights groups,” the organization said.”
“Churches more prepared for financial hardships after pandemic: survey”…
“After enduring the COVID-19 pandemic, a larger share of churches in the United States is more financially prepared for hard times than in 2016, according to a new study from Lifeway Research.
On Tuesday, Lifeway released the findings of a 2022 survey of Protestant pastors who were asked about their congregations’ financial stability.
Data for the survey was drawn from a phone survey of 1,000 Protestant pastors conducted from Sept. 6 to Sept. 30, 2022, with a sampling error of +3.2%. The results were compared to a phone survey of 1,000 Protestant pastors taken Aug. 22 to Sept. 16, 2016.
Forty-four percent of pastors who knew how many weeks of cash reserves their church has said it was less than 16 weeks, which marks a decline from 50% in 2016.”
“House fails to override Biden veto of bill targeting ESG investing in pensions”…
“The House failed Thursday to override President Biden’s first veto, delivering a blow to critics of so-called ESG investing who tried to scuttle a Labor Department rule that allows retirement plan managers to consider factors like climate change and social justice politics in their investment decisions.
Republicans failed to muster the two-thirds majority needed to override Mr. Biden’s veto of that bill that would have prevented 401(k) fiduciaries from engaging in environmental, social and corporate governance investing — or ESG — that critics have denounced as “woke” capitalism.”
“Library director fired after Kirk Cameron & Riley Gaines complained about him”…
“A library director at Tennessee’s Hendersonville Public Library was fired after right-wing celebrities made a stink about not being treated well while promoting their children’s books.
The Sumner County Library Board voted 4-3 on Wednesday to fire Allan Morales after former child star Kirk Cameron, Duck Dynasty star Missy Robertson, and former swimmer Riley Gaines accused library staff of being rude and unwelcoming during an event for Cameron’s book tour that also included a reading of Robertson’s book from the same publisher.”
“‘Anti-trans’: PCUSA demands Kentucky gov. veto bill protecting kids from bodily mutilation”…
“The head of the largest Presbyterian denomination in the United States has called on Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear to veto a bill that would, among other things, ban the bodily mutilation of youth expressing confusion about their sex.
The Rev. J. Herbert Nelson II, stated clerk of the General Assembly for Presbyterian Church (USA), which is headquartered in Louisville, released a statement Thursday calling on Beshear to veto the recently passed legislation.
Nelson claimed that the legislation would “have an overwhelming negative impact on transgender youth across the state” and “deny the rights of transgender siblings of God.””
“Teen overdose deaths have doubled in three years. Blame fentanyl.”…
“Teen overdose deaths have doubled in three years, an alarming trend amid a historic decline in drug and alcohol use among high school students.
The main reason is fentanyl. Teens consume the powerful opioid unwittingly, packaged in counterfeit pills tailored to resemble less potent prescription medications. Drug traffickers lace pills with fentanyl to boost the black-market high. Dangerously addictive, fentanyl can be lethal, especially to children experimenting with drugs. “
“NPR Issues Correction After Claiming There’s ‘Limited Scientific Evidence’ Men Have Physical Advantages In Sports”…
“National Public Radio (NPR) issued a correction to its Friday tweet claiming there is “limited scientific evidence” men have athletic advantages over women.
“Correction: An earlier tweet incorrectly stated there is limited scientific evidence of physical advantage. Existing research shows that higher levels of testosterone do impact athletic performance. But there’s limited research involving elite trans athletes in competition,” NPR said on Sunday.
