Christian Fracture – AP – “United Methodists are breaking up in a slow-motion schism… United Methodist Church is also the latest of several mainline Protestant denominations in America to begin fracturing, just as Episcopal, Lutheran and Presbyterian denominations lost significant minorities of churches and members this century amid debates over sexuality and theology … Scores of churches in Georgia, and hundreds in Texas, are considering disaffiliation… flashpoints are the denomination’s bans on same-sex marriages and ordaining openly LGBTQ clergy — though many see these as symptoms for deeper differences in views on justice, theology and scriptural authority.”
Transgender Surgeries – The Washington Stand – “Vanderbilt Suspends Trans Clinic after Being Exposed for Controversial Practices… Following revelations that the Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) may have punished workers who had conscientious objections against participating in transgender surgeries and is motivated to perform transition procedures on children for monetary gain, the hospital has announced they will temporarily halt transgender surgeries on minors.”
Sanders on Abortion – The Guardian – Democrats shouldn’t focus only on abortion in the midterms. That’s a mistake… In my view, while the abortion issue must remain on the front burner, it would be political malpractice for Democrats to ignore the state of the economy and allow Republican lies and distortions to go unanswered.”
