This morning I read another article from a writer who devotes his time teaching others how to reject God. This blog entry happened to be about the falseness of eternal life. He is an annihilationist, believing that we cease to exist when we die. He has a large following on the net from folks looking to validate their own false theology. Below was my response. I know it’s harsh. However these false armchair theologians are helping put guardrails up on the wide road to Hell.
“I’m sorry but Hell and Heaven remain real regardless of your attempts at deconstruction. Daniel 12:2 and Revelation 20:10 just to name a few places you left out… And the reason why evangelical churches spend disproportionately more time on the subject than main-line churches is because of their emphasis on, wait for it…. evangelism. Most of your writing provides a faulty platform for those who wish to find comfort from the nagging feeling that God is real and we will be held accountable to Him when we pass from this life to the next. For that role I would caution you to consider 2 Tim 4:3-4 and , Acts 20:30, 2 Peter 3:16-17, James 3:1. If your theology is correct, then Christians have spent time learning from a good book on how to live and love while on earth. However, if you are wrong, imagine the eternal afterlife as a false teacher.”
