Daily Headlines on contemporary issues that impact a Biblical Christian worldview.
“Biblical drama centering around ‘controversial’ passage in Scripture enjoys crowdfunding success”…
“A biblical drama hitting theaters just in time for Easter is breaking records for its successful crowdfunding model.
“His Only Son,” releasing March 31, bills itself as a “Biblically accurate” and “authentic” film based on the story of Abraham and Isaac.
“This is the first time a theatrical release has been crowdfunded in entertainment history,” distributor of the film, Angel Studios, said.”
“‘Chilling’: Liberal Journalists Taken Aback by Government Censorship of Social Media”…
“On Thursday, the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government held a hearing on the “Twitter Files,” a collection of thousands of internal Twitter document, parts of which have recently been released. As noted by two independent journalists and lawmakers, the hearing confirmed what many conservatives have suspected for years — that the federal government and elements of the mainstream media actively worked with social media giants to censor and deplatform content.”
“Most young adults say schools do ‘good job’ teaching traditional values; older generations disagree”…
“A strong majority of American adults believe it’s important for schools to teach traditional values of Western civilization, but how well they think schools teach these values varies by age, according to a recent survey.
When asked how well schools teach these values, 36% said that public schools do a “good job” — up from 25% in May 2022 — while 42% don’t think schools do an adequate job teaching this topic. Twenty-two percent of participants said that they weren’t sure how schools are doing in teaching traditional Western values. “
“Most Americans view ‘wokeness’ as a positive term even though many conservatives don’t: study”…
“While many prominent conservatives have dismissed the term “wokeness” as a threat to the Gospel, a new USA Today/Ipsos poll shows that most Americans view it as simply an awareness of social injustices instead of a term demanding that people be “overly politically correct” or a policing of language.
The poll, conducted from March 3 to March 5, includes a nationally representative sample of 1,023 adults age 18 or older. The sample consists of 311 Democrats, 290 Republicans and 312 independents.
Overall, 56% of respondents described “wokeness” as being informed about “social injustices,” while 39% said it “involves being overly politically correct and policing others’ words.”
“Church of Cannabis fights to keep ritual ‘meditation’ sculpture, claims Denver violating 1st Amendment”…
“The International Church of Cannabis — yes, there is an International Church of Cannabis — is accusing the city of Denver, Colorado, of violating its First Amendment right to freely practice its religion following a city order to remove an eleven-foot, bright pink sculpture titled “Public Defender” from in front of the church, on the corner of a busy intersection.
According to the church, founded in 2017 with members, known as “Elevationists,” the sculpture, which was donated to the organization by the artist who created it, is central to an important church ritual.”
“Anti-Jewish incidents jumped nearly 20% in 2021, FBI finds”…
“The updated FBI statistics released Monday counted 817 anti-Jewish criminal offenses reported by local law enforcement agencies in 2021, up from 683 in 2020 — a year when people largely stayed off the streets for a substantial period due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 numbers, however, represent a 15% decline from 2019, when the FBI reported 963 hate crimes, as well as a slight decline from 2018, when FBI statistics show 847 hate crimes.
Overall, the report showed a total of more than 10,800 total hate crimes — the highest number in decades. As in previous years, anti-Jewish incidents comprised the majority of the 1,590 hate crimes based on religion.”
“Christian school shuts down instead of closing conversion therapy program”…
“A Christian school in New Zealand will close its doors rather than give up a conversion therapy program.
Kaitaia Abundant Life School says a new law passed last year banning the practice means they can no longer operate according to their Christian faith.
“Experiencing unwanted feelings towards the same sex” is not usual, a spokesperson for the school, Ivy Tan, told 1News in New Zealand. “To say you are not able to offer support to these students, it’s horrendous.””
