It is not enough to do God’s work; it must be done in His way and for His credit.

We do God's work only when we do it for Him.

A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – There is a verse that this quote from Lutzer brings to mind.

Matthew 6:3-4 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

The sin of pride is the foundation that most other sin sits on top of. We Christians desire a pat on the back from others. Many of our “works of the Lord” are done in public rather than private. Often God wants us to go to our inner room and pray (Matt. 6.6). But, as powerful and Biblically emphasized as that is, very few of us have a good balance between what gets us credit with our peers and what no one knows about. Finally, there is also the caution that…

Matthew 7:22-23 – On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Again, our work for the Lord needs to be done His way and for His credit.
