Lukewarm people don’t really want to be saved from their sin; they want only to be saved from the penalty of their sin.

Quick Quote – Source – Francis Chan

A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – God offers us a two-part promise. He offers salvation through the death and resurrection of his Son, but with that He also includes the Holy Spirit as our Counselor for life. Many profess Christ as their Savior but refuse to accept the Holy Spirit as their Counselor. They say a prayer, often as a youth, and yet there is no change in their lives and they expect no consequences from their behavior. After a life of doing exactly what they want to do, they still expect to be saved from the penalty of their sins. Repentance or turning from sin toward God is the mark of a changed life. It is a sign of our “new creation”.

2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
