Our Eternal Destiny

Our verse for today comes from John 3:36, ” He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. “

Organic is a term that has become quite common in the food industry. Many items in your grocery store are now available in the organic and non-organic varieties. And simply stated, here are the criteria which determine whether a food is organic or not. Produce must be grown in soil that has had no prohibited substances (most synthetic fertilizers and pesticides) applied to it for three years prior to harvest. Meat must be raised in living conditions accommodating their natural behaviors, fed purely organic feed, and not administered antibiotics or hormones. Processed foods are prohibited from containing artificial preservatives, colorings, or flavors and require their ingredients to be organic, except for the non-agricultural ingredients like enzymes (yogurt), pectin (fruit jams) and baking soda (baked goods). Sugar Free is another term that is all around us. And for a food to be sugar free, it must contain no ingredient that is a sugar, while also containing less than half a gram of sugars per serving in the content of all its ingredients. And a half a gram of sugar is about an eighth of a teaspoon and contains about 2 calories. Labeling such as these two examples exhibits the attempt to make very clear the distinction between foods of one kind versus all others. Is it organic, or not? Sugar free, or not? But even the definitions are not completely exclusive. A little synthetic fertilizer here, as long as it’s on the approved list, or a little sugar there, as long as it’s not too much.

But God made it very clear that there are two, and only two, camps when it comes to everlasting life. Either you believe in the Son and you have it, or you don’t and His wrath is upon you. God does not allow qualifiers, and Jesus cannot and will not let even one who believes in Him to suffer the wrath of His Holy Father. It’s time some of you stopped straddling a fence that cannot hold you. Everlasting life doesn’t look like you are thinking it looks. And rest assured, the wrath of God will be worse than anything you could ever imagine.

As we seek Him today, let your belief in Jesus set you free from any other allegiance that may lay claim to you.
