Romans Road Parks of America

We are starting up a new ministry for evangelism, partnering with churches throughout the country!

Background

Last summer my wife and I traveled by car for over a month from Alaska to North Carolina. As we have made this trip twice before, it is our continuing desire to visit as much of the backcountry of Canada and America as we can, intentionally staying off the interstates.

God showed us His creation in the quiet, hidden parts of both nations. Hardworking people who fall outside the hustle of major cities. The small tourist attractions like the largest pencil or compass “in the world” have always been more fun for us than the big showy tourist traps. So many out-of-the-way places with good folks leading quiet lives in middle America.

We also saw many small churches in our travels, likely trying to hold things together after surviving the financial and fellowship loss due to the pandemic.

I believe God put something on our hearts during this last trip and, over the past six months, we have been laying the foundation of a new ministry, the topic of this brief post.

As we drove and drove, it struck us how much we love small local attractions in small-town America. At the same time, there was sadness at seeing so many who likely don’t know Jesus. Finally, with all the drama going on in the world today, we got an increasing sense of desperation that time is growing short for those who do not know our risen Lord.

Putting all that together, a new non-profit ministry has been born, Romans Road Parks of America.

Our Vision Statement is: “To establish Christian parks across America to promote recreation, community, and evangelism.”

Parks bring people together, in God’s creation. They also offer a place of solitude, reflection, and family engagement. Most importantly, they are a place to display signs that offer a Scriptural pathway toward eternity with Jesus in Heaven.

Time is of the Essence for Evangelism

People pass beyond this world every day without ever accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. The world is growing cold with many turning away from God and the gospel message of Salvation. Further, there seem to be growing signs we are heading toward End-Times’ prophecy fulfillment.

This country needs God’s Word wherever it can still be offered.

As time goes on, churches may become the last lifeline for evangelism. Whenever the Rapture takes place, there will be a vacuum of Christian guidance in the world, and the Romans Road Scripture verses, and the Sinners’ Prayer signs, somewhat hidden in small church parks across America, will take on increased significance and value. Below are the three signs provided by Romans Road Parks of America free of charge to participating churches.

Church leaders who believe in Romans 10:9 and Ephesians 2:8-9 as the narrow path to eternity with God, need to display their beliefs publicly and with conviction. We must always be “prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15).

Establishing a Romans Road Park on your church property with a link to your Pastor’s email and/or church contact number or website for further information is a silent testament to that desire.

So, it is with this motivation and theological underpinning that Romans Road Parks of America has been established as a tool for Biblical Christian evangelism on a church-by-church basis. All materials are provided free of charge, at a cost of over $1700 per park. Financial support has already been provided by a small foundation established through the National Christian Foundation for this purpose. At the present time, we have begun shipping signage to participating churches and have sufficient funding for another 30 park sites. Installation of signs, picnic tables, and other supporting structures are completed by church volunteers. Further details on the ministry and the ability to recommend a church for a park can be found on our website, Romans Road Parks of America as well as a detailed proposal for the church leadership. Please pray for us as we step out on faith.
