A Biblical Christian worldview perspective – Sending our children off to church and Sunday School is important in their early understanding of God’s grace and the need for our faith and hope in Him. However, our impressionable youth first look to their parents for wisdom and guidance, not the church.
Deuteronomy 6:6-8 – And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
If discussions around the dinner table and elsewhere in the home focus on earthly things our kids will remain earthbound in their thinking, perhaps for eternity. As Christians, we need to demonstrate to our kids the importance of our faith, showing our own reliance on God and His word, if we expect to “pass it on”.
