Gay Rights and the Supreme Court – AP – “Justices spar in latest clash of religion and gay rights… The Supreme Court ’s conservative majority sounded sympathetic Monday to a Christian graphic artist who objects to designing wedding websites for gay couples, the latest collision of religion and gay rights to land at the high court. The designer and her supporters say that ruling against her would force artists — from painters and photographers to writers and musicians — to do work that is against their beliefs. Her opponents, meanwhile, say that if she wins, a range of businesses will be able to discriminate, refusing to serve Black, Jewish or Muslim customers, interracial or interfaith couples or immigrants.
Meta News – Reuters – “Facebook owner Meta may remove news from platform if U.S. Congress passes media bill… Facebook parent Meta Platforms Inc (META.O) on Monday threatened to remove news from its platform if the U.S. Congress passes a proposal aimed at making it easier for news organizations to negotiate collectively with companies like Alphabet Inc’s (GOOGL.O) Google and Facebook. Sources briefed on the matter said lawmakers are considering adding the Journalism Competition and Preservation Act to a must-pass annual defense bill as way to help the struggling local news industry.
Media Terminations – The Washington Stand – “As Trust in Mainstream Media Wanes, Layoffs Soar… A new poll released Monday revealed that public trust in mainstream media outlets like The New York Times, The Washington Post, NPR, CBS News, etc. is at an all-time low. Meanwhile, a number of legacy outlets have recently announced that they will be slashing hundreds of jobs in an effort to cut costs. The I&I/TIPP survey showed that 61% of respondents had “no trust” in traditional media, with 32% indicating “little trust” and 29% expressing “no trust at all.” The numbers mark a “record low” for the poll, which is conducted every month. The survey also looked at political affiliation, which found 54% of Democrats saying they trust legacy media, with 42% indicating no trust. On the Republican side, just 15% said they trusted the media, with 81% saying they did not.
Navy Seal DeTransitions – CBN – “Former Navy SEAL Trans Poster Boy Announces DeTransition: ‘Transgender Ideology Is Cultish’… A former Navy SEAL who spent almost a decade living as a transgender woman is warning Americans of the dangers of the transgender movement after recently announcing he is detransitioning back to a man. Chris Beck served in the Navy SEALs for 20 years on special operations teams and also served on the famed SEAL Team Six. Through 13 deployments, he received over 50 awards and medals for his service, including the Bronze Star with valor and the Purple Heart.
