“Supreme Court could take first transgender sports case with appeal from West Virginia soccer player”…
West Virginia soccer player Lainey Armistead could give the Supreme Court its first shot at issuing a ruling on the controversial subject of transgender athletes in women’s sports.
“Armistead and her lawyers from the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) on Thursday asked the Supreme Court to weigh in on her case against the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). That group is trying to strike down West Virginia’s Save Women’s Sports Act, which bans male student athletes who identify and present themselves as female from playing on girls’ school sports teams.”Armistead and her lawyers from the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) on Thursday asked the Supreme Court to weigh in on her case against the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). “US intel community says China, North Korea, Iran and Russia pose complex threats”…
“The U.S. intelligence community said that China, Russia, Iran and North Korea present “complex” threats to the United States, according to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence’s Annual Threat Assessment released Wednesday.
“During the coming year, the United States and its allies will confront a complex and pivotal international security environment,” the report states. The complexity is caused by great powers, rising regional powers and non-state actors vying for dominance as the entire world faces challenges such as climate change and food security, officials said.
Competition between the U.S. and its allies against China and Russia “makes the next few years critical to determining who and what will shape” the global narrative, the report states.”
“NYPD cops resigning in new year at record-breaking pace — with a 117% jump from 2021 numbers”…
“New York City cops are resigning at a record-breaking pace this year as the NYPD’s alarming exodus continues, according to new data obtained by The Post.
“The NYPD staffing emergency is approaching the point of no return,” said Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch.
The shocking stats show 239 officers tapped out in January and February, a 36% spike from the 176 who fled in the same period last year and a disturbing 117% jump from the 110 in 2021, NYPD pension data show.”
“Attacks on pro-life groups, churches continue after DOJ arrests pro-life activists: list”…
“The FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice have faced harsh criticism from the pro-life movement for an early-morning raid on the Pennsylvania home of Mark Houck. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania announced on Sept. 23 that it had arrested Houck for violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. The raid took place earlier that morning.
The DOJ contends that Houck “is alleged to have twice assaulted a man because he was a volunteer reproductive health care clinic escort.” According to the federal agency, “the defendant forcefully shoved” the clinic escort to the ground on two separate occasions at a Philadelphia Planned Parenthood clinic on Oct. 13, 2021, one of which required him to receive “medical attention.”
“UK Punishes ‘Thought Crime’ of Praying Silently at Abortion Facilities”…
“British police will continue to arrest Christians for the crime of praying within hundreds of feet of an abortion facility, after the U.K. Parliament voted down an amendment that would have legalized “silent prayer” — a situation Christians have described as a “dystopian” ban on pro-life “thoughtcrime.”
On Tuesday, Members of Parliament rejected an amendment to prevent police from arresting anyone “engaged in consensual communication or in silent prayer” within 164 yards of an abortion facility in England or Wales. The amendment, offered by Conservative MP Andrew Lewer, failed 116-299.
“The idea that we should interrupt the relationship between an individual and their God seems to me to be pretty monstrous,” said Sir John Hayes, a Conservative MP. “This is about freedom; it is not about the purpose of that freedom or the location of it. It is about the ability to think, speak, and pray freely.”
“Michigan becomes 22nd state to pass LGBTQ+ protections after decades of fighting”…
“LGBTQ+ organizations and allies are celebrating Michigan for becoming the first state in three years to pass comprehensive anti-discrimination protections for sexual orientation and gender identity. The legislation, which now heads to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) to be signed into law, finally passed after decades of court battles and hold-ups from Republican legislators.
The bill passed in a 64-45 vote in the Democrat-led House on Wednesday. It amends the state’s 1976 Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act (ELCRA) to include LGBTQ+ people among its protected groups. The law forbids discrimination in housing, employment, and public accommodation within businesses, government buildings, and educational facilities on the basis of religion, race, color, national origin, age, sex, height, weight, familial status, marital status — and now, LGBTQ+ identity.”
“NY State to Pay $250K to Faith-Based Adoption Agency After Trying to Shut It Down for 4 Years”…
“In what’s being called a victory for children awaiting adoption and religious ministries, the state of New York has agreed to pay $250,000 in attorneys’ fees and costs after trying to close New Hope Family Services because of its religious beliefs.
As CBN News reported in September, a federal judge ruled that New York can not force or shut down the Syracuse-based adoption agency for declining to provide adoption services to unmarried persons or same-sex couples.
U.S. District Court Judge Mae A. D’Agostino in Albany cited free speech protections granting New Hope a summary judgment and ruling the state couldn’t “compel the agency to process applications from, or place children for adoption with, same-sex couples or unmarried cohabitating couples.”
