Daily Headlines on contemporary issues that impact a Biblical Christian worldview.
“University of North Carolina moves to ban ‘diversity, equity and inclusion’ statements in anti-woke backlash”…
“UNC voted to ban DEI statements and compelled speech from admission, hiring, promotion and tenure at its Board of Governors meeting Thursday.
The board stated the university “shall neither solicit nor require an employee or applicant for academic admission or employment to affirmatively ascribe to or opine about beliefs, affiliations, ideals, or principles regarding matters of contemporary political debate or social action as a condition to admission, employment, or professional advancement,” according to the resolution. An employee or applicant also can’t “be solicited or required to describe his or her actions in support of, or in opposition to, such beliefs, affiliations, ideals, or principles.”
“‘Common Sense’: UK Bars Most Men from Women’s Prisons”…
“In another international setback for the LGBTQ agenda, the British government has banned nearly all men who identify as women from being jailed inside women’s prisons — implicitly condemning the unisex prison policy advocated by President Joe Biden.
Under the new UK government policy unveiled on Monday, no one convicted of a future crime who has intact male genitalia will be sent to a female prison estate. Neither will any male convicted of sexual crimes or such violent offenses as murder, attempted murder, assault, or crimes harming children — even if the offender has a government-issued Gender Recognition Certificate.
“‘Jesus Revolution’ Receives A+ CinemaScore, Collects Over $15M on Opening Weekend”…
“Much like a group of hippies unexpectedly flocked to hear the preaching of Chuck Smith in the late 1960s and early 1970s, during the opening weekend of “Jesus Revolution,” a surprisingly large number people journeyed out to see the movie, helping it bring in over $15 million at the box office.
Some are now saying that God is using the film to draw people to himself.
“Deion Sanders’ prayers are constitutionally protected, lawyer tells University of Colorado”…
“A religious liberty legal organization has urged the University of Colorado Boulder to uphold the free speech rights of its new football coach Deion Sanders amid a complaint from an atheist organization over his leading the team in prayer.
First Liberty Institute sent a letter to the university and its leadership Tuesday to correct what it characterized as “Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) ‘s misstatements regarding the requirements imposed by the First Amendment on public school employees’ religious expression.”
“Senate Votes to Overrule Department of Labor ESG Initiative”…
“On Wednesday, the United States Senate voted in support of a resolution that would overturn a recently-implemented policy at Biden’s Department of Labor (DOL) allowing retirement plans to use ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance) factors to determine certain investment decisions.
As reported by the New York Post, all 48 Republicans present voted in favor of the bill, along with two Democrats: Senators Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) and Jon Tester (D-Mont.). The measure passed by a margin of 50-46, with four senators absent from the vote.”
“Jon Stewart takes on Republican lawmaker who wants to ban drag shows in viral interview”…
“On the most recent episode of The Problem with Jon Stewart, the show’s namesake and host grilled an Ohio Republican, using his support of drag show bans to expose the hypocrisy behind his opposition to gun control legislation. A clip from the interview, which premiered on Friday, has since gone viral.
Oklahoma state Sen. Nathan Dahm (R) opposes restrictions on firearms, like laws requiring background checks and red-flag laws, because he says they infringe on a person’s Second Amendment rights. He also supports banning drag shows anywhere they might be viewed by minors.”
“Pro-life doctors’ group booted from national OBGYN conference”…
“Pro-life obstetrician-gynecologists are increasingly getting the stiff-arm from the field’s leading professional associations.
The American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists was abruptly barred from hosting an exhibit booth at this week’s meeting of leading OBGYN education groups held at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.
Dr. Christina Francis, incoming CEO of the pro-life group, said the doctors weren’t told about the cancellation until after arriving in Maryland, even though the organization booked the booth last year and has participated in the conference for the last 15 years.”
