Why Did God Create Man

Why did God create mankind? I really have no concrete idea. There are many verses, such as Eph 3:10 that suggests He created us to do his good works. However, since God is omniscient and omnipotent, the question remains, why does He need us to do His work in the first place?

Two verses in Isaiah could provide some insight …

  • Isaiah 43:7 everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”
  • Isaiah 43:21 the people whom I formed for myself that they might declare my praise.

The best I can offer is that He created man to worship and praise Him for eternity. To the unbeliever, that sounds prideful, arrogant and self-centered. As a Biblical Christian, we need to take it at face value. We need to trust what God offers us within the context of the Bible and recognize what we see and understand today is but a poor reflection of what we will understand from the perspective of Heaven (1 Cor. 13:12).
